Long luncheon cruise, the better tight arse way

The Albatross

Tuesday 13 February 2024

Apparently, the weather is going to turn crappy tomorrow, so we thought we’d make use of the decent stuff and go see the harbour, however all the tours seemed expensive and short, so we came up with a better option of catching a commuter ferry to a town on the other side of the bay, having lunch and then coming back again. I must stay it was a terrific solution.

It was a lovely calm day, the boat ferry was basically empty so we could sit wherever we wanted, and we had great views of the bridges, back across the city and travelled close to Alcatraz.

The ferry on the way over pulled in at Angel Island which was used as an immigration station.

Then on to Tiburon, a very pleasant (and I’m guessing very expensive) little town.

The posh little supermarket had a great freshly made and rather massive sandwiches, which we took back to the waterfront and ate looking over the water to the Golden Gate bridge with some cormorants, sealions and dolphins doing there thing just off shore.

We even managed to see the amazing Elephant Rock, which made this town famous. It makes Dog Rock in Albany start to look impressive.

So, a rather cruisy lovely day, but with amazing views of the bay and much better and massive amounts cheaper than a tourist boat. If the weather turns nasty over the next few days we won’t have missed out.

We went and gathered dinner ingredients and some vino, and toddled back home to Oakland to our pretty little apartment.
