The Albatross

Well done to the mighty Honda Pilot. You didn’t miss a beat through 9,143 miles, nearly 15,000 kms. You make no sense in a coastal city with narrow roads, and can be terrifying when a truck is coming towards you at 50 miles per hour on a windy narrow mountain road, as no matter how hard we inhale, you maintain your robust girth. On the open roads of Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, etc you fitted in beautifully and almost made sense. You managed to grip and stay on the road through the snow in Oregon and British Columbia, as well as muddy steep slopes in Utah.
In our travels we just managed 25 miles per gallon (about 9.4 litres per 100km), which is a lot more than we wanted, however it is commendable considering how large a car it is (8 speed 3.5lt V6), and the simply humongous volumes of stuff you can carry. It’s going to be very close quarters in comparison with our next car rental.
We’re back in San Fran, just a few miles from the airport. Sorting our stuff and preparing for the next leg of our adventure. Not much to say about today apart from a pretty drive up the coast and some annoying delays with check in to our apartment. Time to do some washing and packing.
