We explored more beaches today, Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. We didn’t actually walk on the beach but looked at the beaches, watched pelicans dive bomb for fish, people sitting on surfboard but not actually surfing, and a big group of people playing beach volleyball. We were enjoying the sun. At Pacific Beach we watched what seemed to be an entire Elementary School wander down the beach and swarm us.
We headed off to Old Town San Diego. Apparently, it is considered the “birthplace” of California, as it is where the Spanish had their first permanent settlement in California. It is a ‘ye olde towne’ but I did expect that there would be a bit of history. However, half of the museums were closed (they can’t find enough people to staff them 7 days per week) and we couldn’t find the half that we open as there we no signs around and most building seemed closed. It them morphed into tourist tatt shops and cheesy restaurants. Needless to say, we didn’t stay there for long.
However, we did book some accommodation in Singapore, change our flights back to Perth and started exploring car hire in Malaysia.
