The Albatross

A much better night’s sleep. Our apartment has lovely gentle underfloor heating, which keeps it at about 20C degrees. However, the quilt on the bed is rated to -50C, and the sheet only rose to nipple height. Unfortunately, the night before we were too exhausted to care so just grumbled, crawled in and collapsed. This lasted for about two hours before having a rubbish night’s sleep, both cold and sweating at the same time as various body parts hung out.

Tuna noticed some light blankets in the living room, designed for putting over your knees. After a major bed remake to cover nipples with sheet, these made a lovely patchwork layer of blankets. We both slept like beautiful snotty angels.

The morning was sunny and crisp, so after breakfast we scooted over to Cypress Mountain, stopping at lookouts over town.

The bloke we are renting off was responsible for building part of the trestle bridge (not a bridge, more a walkway but I’m not saying that to him as he seems a nice chap). Some very impressive and ultra expensive landscaping was going on to build some luxury blocks of land. I hope they are insured for seismic events.

Anyway, up we went, snow appeared as did cross country skiers in lycra.

We went down and across to Grouse Mountain to a lovely gorge. Very pretty.

As lunch was looming, we though wed head down to the docks near home for a burger and a beer at one of the many micro-breweries. The problem was that we missed them twice due to very narrow slip lanes and general incompetence by the navigator (me). And when we did get there, none actually served food, so we gave up. As we were only minutes from home, we thought we’d just grab a pizza and cook it at home, whilst enjoying our views. The pizzas looked bad, so we had some rather terrific Indian takeaway instead.

The next few stops booked, wine consumed, some pork crackling ruined (pork still okay), view still pretty. Bed looms large.
