Stuffed, puffed and God damn America

The Albatross

Wednesday 17 April 2024

We’re in the tiny little village of Duck Creek. I haven’t seen a duck or a creek yet. There’s not much here, except its right between two national parks and it saves us moving every day. It’s also an enormous lodge for not very much, its quiet and rather pretty.

Today was a planning day, both for the rest of the USA and what we do afterwards. Planning takes time as both of us has to agree, discuss, listen and have time to think. You can’t do that while looking at stuff. Today was also a day to catch up on blogs, washing, grooming, etc. Whilst not fully locked in, we achieved most of these things.

If you need a place to sit and contemplate things, this is it. It’s quiet, but unfortunately, it’s also quite high up so any activity leaves you a wee bit puffed. I cleared a balcony entrance of packed snow that had turned to ice and had to sit down for half an hour. It’s also a tad redneck, there are stuffed creatures everywhere and a USA flag hanging proudly on the front deck. It does also have a pool table, table tennis (not playing that at altitude) and a space invaders machine with every game from the 70’s and 80’s. I’m still crap at them.

So, a quiet but much needed day. We are off to see stuff tomorrow.
