The Albatross

Today was a bit of a trek over to Bozeman, which is on the northwest Corner of Yellowstone NP. Yellowstone is still effectively closed as it still under lots of snow, so we are going to have to miss it. However, the drive to get here was still stunning, crossing through the Rockies, with great views and easy fast driving, the scenery changing multiple times, with the final travel in revealing Yellowstone and explaining why it won’t be open for a few months.
Into town and as it was lunchtime, we decided to forgo the meal in the esky and grab a beer and a massive slice of pizza at a local microbrewery just on the local uni campus. Delicious.
From there onto a local university computing museum (American Computer & Robotics Museum), with a remarkable collection of old machines, too many of which I remember. One of the cool things was the last surviving piece of a computer than controlled the Apollo moon landings. Yes, we are geeks.
After acquiring provisions and chatting to a super friendly butcher, we settled into our apartment and Tuna began the arduous task of ringing immigration. When we crossed back into the USA the immigration official said our time in Canada didn’t count, and our 90 day limit wasn’t reset. This is contrary to what the chap told us when we entered into San Fran. We even asked specifically so we don’t break any rules.
The net result of 2 hours of muzak before Tuna spoke to someone, is that we don’t know if we have to leave early or not. However, we do have an action plan of what we need to do next, which will resolve things one way or another.
