The sun was out and the sky blue today, belying yesterday’s rain. It is Good Friday today, and we guessed a lot of places would be closed. So, we headed to Stanley Park, an island just beside Vancouver downtown. It is a big park and the have kept the tress, particularly on the west side. It is just a long one-way road around the island. We got there reasonably early, 10am, despite me being awake at 4am and out of bed at 5am due to the crap cold we have. I had to make my own coffee as the Albatross recovered an hour of lost sleep. We enjoyed the slow drive around Stanley Park, stopping at everything and taking in the views of Vancouver, Golden Lion Bridge, a yacht race going nowhere as there was no wind and big boats awaiting loading at the docks.
It got a lot busier when we got the east side and closer to lunch. We chose to head home for lunch and stopped off at the local supermarket to get some sausages. We were both shattered after a poor night’s sleep, and colds so eating at home with some wine around 2pm was lovely, we have a nice view over the river/harbour and back towards Vancouver downtown (we are staying North Vancouver).
We had a relaxing afternoon of not doing too much except enjoying the nice views from the apartment, and attempting to cook a Chicken Parmy from scratch without breadcrumbs or a blender to make them was interesting and mildly successful.
